Beginning in the 1930s, Sironi was fascinated by Italian rationalist architecture, so much so that he participated with his works in exhibitions held on architecture. With Urban Landscape with chimney we approach the artist’s period of maturity, when his plastic vision while remaining linked to still and silent scenery became more harsh and expressionistic.
