The work underwent restoration in 1992: the black daubing and pinkish stucco that served to hide the numerous cracks were removed from the base.

Instead, the plaster filling operated in the base and part of the legs was preserved to improve the stability of the sculpture.

Three bronze specimens, with variations from the terracotta, are currently known to exist: one in a private Swiss collection, the other housed in Pistoia at the Marino Marini Documentation Center at Tau, and a third at the Prefectural Museum of Modern Art in Yogo.

Comparable to the Giovinetta Jesi of 1939 and the Pomone of 1939-1941, this 1938 work anticipates their dense, full volumes and solemn, contemplative expression, which isolates all these figures in an aura of mythical timelessness.
