In Natura morta con le uova one can grasp the metaphysical suggestions well received by De Pisis and the adherence to a new trend, as the composition is connoted by a severe volumetric distribution typical of the “return to order” of the 1920s. The reality minutely investigated in this painting suddenly becomes elusive in the accentuated perspective of the background on the left, with those sharp angles causing a bizarre shift in vision. The foreground glows, motionless, in a careful arrangement of light tones. The oblique gaze, peculiar to De Chirico, thus coexists with the purity typical of the “Valori Plastici” current.
